WE bought this beautiful set from a lady in SLC. It was her Grandfathers and after 25 years of her having it, she was willing to let it go. I don't know how people get rid of such beautiful family heirlooms :( I have an antique bedroom set from a Great UNcle that I wont even paint because it is sentimental. Maybe some day....
THis was gorgeous wood but needed some love the pics make it look much better than it really was.

We primed the pieces with Zinzer spray primer because a piece this detailed you don't want to sand the fronts. Little details of wood would go flying and ruin the design!
Once it was primer well, We Sprayed it with Alcamino white by KWAL. It is the perfect soft white. We sprayed about 4 coats. (removing hardware before of course)

Once dry, We took a sanding block with 240 grit sand paper wrapped around it and lightly sanded down the details and edges of all the drawers to make them stand out.
Once all the dressers and mirror was distressed, It was sealed by spraying POLYCRYLIC over the paint. This seals and protects the pieces.

The wood grain is so beautiful and the cnatural color of wood was so pretty that we decided to apply the NATURAL minwax wood stain to the tops. They are sooo pretty!! Then we brushed on 4 coats of gloss POLYURATHANE. Be sure when the first coat is dry that you sand with a fine grit sand paper, like a 600 to buff out the air bubbles and smooth the surface. You want to do this in between every coat and wipe well.. By the time you get to the final coat, it will be so smooth!
Note: Polycrylic goes on top of paint. PolyURATHANE goes on top of wood. PolyURATHANE with yellow the paint so do not use it on painted surfaces.
