Taking the country out of these girls :)

The owner of this furniture was ready for an update. As you know, new furniture is pricey! I assured her that these pieces would be adorable all refreshed with new paint and spruced up! She has such a cute style in her home and I think these new pieces will be perfect now!

I sanded these pieces lightly with a 150 grit sanding block. The paint was a flat paint and there was no shine at all on these pieces. I knew the new black paint would adhere very easily so I just smoothed out the surfaces. I taped off the top where we were going to stain. We wiped all the pieces down well and sprayed them with 2 coats of flat black paint. Be sure when painting that you tip your pieces round in all directions to get in all the nooks and crannies.

This Dark Walnut stain was applied to the tops of the wood using a cloth.

This is how the top of the hutch turned out!

Can you believe this was a matching set yet they used completely different wood on the tops of the pieces? This is the same stain on all three! Different woods take them differently. Since they are going to be in different parts of her room, she didn't mind that the tops were different. I love both colors. If they were going to be side by side then I would suggest the top of the dark one to be painted black. The tops have all been sealed with Poly-wipes in a semi gloss.

The country girls are gone and looking ooh so fabulous. It would look cute to add some new knobs too.  I love how they turned out!!  Thanks for looking!
