Here is a custom order table and chair set that I did. It was a light blonde wood and very outdated! My client has a beautiful home and this table and chairs needed to POP in her living room since it was the first space seen when guests walked into her home.

I sanded the legs on the table at this point too. Everything was wiped down good and sprayed with 3 coats of black flat paint.

As you can see, these pieces are not distressed. With the wood underneath being so light andthe table being so dark, I didn't want it to look too light under the dark. The client wanted a more classic and modern look. So we stuck with crisp black. It was the best choice for sure!

My awesome friend Leslie reupholstered the chairs for me. She is the best! We loved how they turned out with new fabric on the cushions. It can bring so many colors into the room.

Once all the legs and chairs were sprayed and Polyurathaned, I took a 60 grit orbital sander to the top. The blonde painted wood look on top was sooo tough to get off! It needed a strong grit. After I got the majority off, I switch to a 150 grit, then a 220 grit so it was smooth and ready for stain.
THe table was NOT taking stain the way I wanted and I was super frustrated so I decided to just paint the stain on and leave it overnight. The stain self leved a bit and looked beautiful! It was still tacky in the morning so I sprayed it with about 5 coats of Polyurathane and sanded with a 1500 grit sanding block in between each coat. It was great but it needed more shine. Spraying the Polyurathane through a gun just doesn't give the same effect as brushing it on nice and thick. The temperature has to be perfect to brush it on and the table needs to be level so it won't puddle.
I sanded the table with a 600 grit, wiped it good then applied one last coat of oilbased Polyurathane in Gloss. It was perfect!!!!! In love!!!!
